SEV has launched a new Working Group for Healthcare and Life Sciences in Greece.
The group, which works closely with SEV’s Innovation Committee, aims to strengthen one of Greece’s most dynamic startup ecosystems. The group will work to improve the understanding of the needs, through systematic communication, of all the stakeholders among startups, researchers, and industry.
The 1st Healthcare & Life Sciences Meetup on July 14th brought together some of the most dynamic parts of the ecosystem: 51 startups, venture funds, tech transfer officers, research centers, and spin-offs met and exchanged views on the prospects and challenges of the Greek and international markets. SEV’s survey on the sector, which was presented at the event, showed that attracting capital, international business cooperation, and improving the framework for clinical trials are key considerations for the ecosystem, and they are integral components of SEV’s efforts in the field.
In a statement, Marco Veremis, Chairman of SEV’s Innovation Committee, underlined Greece’s comparative advantages, which were demonstrated during the pandemic, and reiterated SEV’s belief in the significant growth potential of these sectors. ”We can fulfill this potential if we all work together” he added.
The meetup was held at SEV’s premises, and guests were welcomed by Maggie Athanassiadi, SEV’s Innovation Director, and the working group’s organizing committee: Lampros Kourtis, Managing Director, the Sanguine Lab, Hariettta Eleftherochorinou, Innovation Ventures & Strategic Partnerships, IQVIA, Achilleas Gravanis, Professor of Pharmacology, School of Medicine University of Crete & Researcher IMBB-FORTH, Aristos Doxiadis, Partner, Big Pi Ventures and Eleni Pentafragka, Board Member, Head of Legal & Corporate Affairs, ELPEN.
