Stavros Papadopoulos: Bringing the database revolution with TileDB

When Stavros Papadopoulos was 12 years old, his cousin made him aim for university. Fortunately, the pressure paid off and Stavros studied in Thessaloniki, got a PhD in Hong Kong and ended up at MIT and Intel to do research.

There, he founded TileDB, a deep-tech company that can efficiently manage all types of data imaginable, including geographic, and medical data. His company has received investments from Intel, MongoDB and Lockheed Martin, among others, and maintains offices in Greece and Boston.

In conversation with Marco Veremis, he talks about his academic and entrepreneurial journey, the milestones he set for investing, how much he has read and that “entrepreneurship is like school: you keep going to a bigger class to learn something more”.

We'd like to thank Eurobank and Grant Thornton for supporting the production of the Innovative Greeks Talks series, via Growth Awards, the leading initiative for Business Excellence.
